About Nodal Pay

Why we are building this

Every day, people across India transact with someone they have never met, a freelancer and a new client, a buyer and a seller on a classifieds listing, a service provider and a first time customer. In almost every one of these transactions, someone has to move first.

If the buyer pays in advance, they carry the risk that the work never arrives or the item is not as described. If the seller delivers first, they carry the risk of never being paid. And when something does go wrong, the terms of the deal are usually scattered across chat messages, calls, and memory, with no single, agreed record of what was promised and what proof exists.

We believe that trade between strangers should not depend on who is willing to take the bigger risk. That is the problem Nodal Pay is being built to address.

What Nodal Pay is

Nodal Pay is an upcoming app based protected payment platform, currently under development in India. The planned experience is straightforward:

1. Agree clearly. Both sides set out what is being delivered, by when, and for how much, in one shared record, not scattered chats.
2. Secure the payment. The buyer commits the payment up front, so the seller can start work with confidence.
3. Release after completion. Once the agreed transaction is completed, the payment is released to the seller.

What guides the design

• Consent first. Nothing important should happen to a deal without both sides knowing and agreeing.
• Clarity over fine print. The terms of a deal should be plainly stated and easy to read, not buried.
• Evidence in one place. Agreements, updates, and proof of delivery should live in a single shared record, so disagreements can be resolved on facts.
• Control for both sides. Buyers and sellers should have balanced tools and equal visibility, whichever side of the deal they are on.

Where we are today

Honestly: we are still building. The Nodal Pay app is under active development and is not yet available to download or use.

The final payment and fund handling structure will depend on applicable law and on arrangements with regulated payment partners, and details of that structure will be published before launch. We have not announced a launch date, and we would rather launch carefully than quickly.

Because the product is still taking shape, features described on this site are planned and may change. Our draft policies, including our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, are published for transparency and will be finalised before launch.
